Abstract

The implementation of outcomes-based education aims to produce graduates with high levels of academic, thinking, behavioral, and technical skills/competencies that are aligned with national academic and industry standards and needs, and international standards. This study evaluated the implementation of the outcomes-based nursing education in Region VIII which would serve as a basis for the formulation of an Instructional Program. It aimed to determine the problems encountered by the clinical instructors and students in the implementation of OBE and the extent of Outcomes-Based Nursing Education implementation as evaluated by the clinical instructors and students. The problems encountered by the respondents are glaring and not to be noticed by school administrators resulting in much serious. This finding implies the need for clinical instructors to undergo training at the soonest possible time. Attending training, seminars and conferences can enhance their knowledge of OBE concepts such as outcomes, premises and principles, and assessment standards in their classroom practices. They can implement the OBE properly if allowed to attend OBE training, seminars, and conferences and if given the support needed from the administration.  Implementation of OBE depends largely on the knowledge and attitude of teachers which contribute to the learning outcomes and overall implementation of OBE.
