Health Risk Attitudes Among the Employees of the University of Eastern Philippines System

Abstract

The study focused on the health risk attitude that influences the productivity performance of the employees. This was conducted among the employees from the three campuses of the University of Eastern Philippines, Catarman, Northern Samar. This study employed a descriptive-correlational research design involving 644 participants. Data from the survey questionnaire were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS 21). Findings showed that the health risk attitudes of the employees have average risk, but they have certainty about the consequences of medical intervention, they also consider health as their priority concern. In addition, employees have a certain extent of health risks which can help improve the health of those who are initially healthy as well as the healthy individuals. In terms of the relationship between health risk attitude and performance of the employees.  All indicators have no bearing on the performance of either group of employees. The findings of this study will provide input on how the university can address the health risk attitude that influences the productivity performance of the employees to become resilient in the face of adversities.
