Abstract

This article provides information about the advantages and peculiarities of the work "Muwatta" by Imam Muḥammad Ash-Shaybānī, one of the mujtahid scholars of the Hanafi School, the terms used in it, the comments on the work. Imam Muḥammad took a unique approach in narrating the work, and if he did not accept the fatwa of Imam Malik, he quoted his own words and the fatwas of Abu Hanifa. He enriched the book with additional scientific information, citing evidence to prove his point.


Muwatta played an important role in the development of jurisprudence, especially in Hanafi jurisprudence. At the same time, he was an example to the jurists in terms of conducting scientific debates, dealing with opponents in a polite manner, and concisely stating the subject.
